Hey everyone, I’d like you to meet Grimm. Say hi, Grimm!
*sigh*
Anyway, years ago, I thought up a story called Five Years Gone, a dystopian cyberpunk thriller that combined elements of Total Recall, Escape From New York and a hint of Blade Runner.
I initially envisioned it as a graphic novel. I wrote up an outline, wrote out a draft of the script, storyboarded it, then I tried to draw it.
And that’s when I discovered I suck at comic book-style art. Composition, linework, colors, shading, all of it. I had it all in my brain but when I tried to translate it to paper, it looked like shit.
Well, in the meantime, I thought up several more storylines, like El Mariachi Muerto, Murdertown U.S.A., and collaborated with a fellow large man on a story called Unlikely Survivors. All of these titles would need an imprint to publish them so I created Grimm Comics, a comic book imprint with this fella as the face of the brand…

Anyway, I talked to an artist I engaged with on Instagram and pitched my idea to him, hoping he’d be willing to illustrate to spec but nothing got off the ground with that and the project quietly went into hibernation.
Fast forward, geez, I wanna say, like, a decade or so. In working on the development of an app, I got to thinking, I could resurrect Grimm and use him for the face of Green Matter Studios.
